What an X metadata scan can establish

A file can contain an AI source declaration regardless of where you intend to share it. The scan reads supported C2PA and XMP information and reports the declaration it finds. It does not need an X account connection, a post URL, or access to your timeline.

What we have not established is a reliable rule mapping each supported tag to an X label. Rather than label the whole scan unavailable, the tool separates the file result from that uncertainty. You can see a detected declaration, remove supported metadata, and verify the output without being promised a particular response from X.

AI source metadata, post notices, and Community Notes

These are different kinds of information. Source metadata is inside the file. A platform notice is attached to a post. Community Notes provide additional context on X and are not a field in your photo’s EXIF or XMP data. A metadata remover does not erase a note or change a post’s moderation history.

A visible generator mark is a separate issue. This tool does not remove logos from the artwork, reconstruct pixels, or certify that an image is authentic. It works on supported metadata blocks and does not add a fabricated camera model to make the file look like a camera original.

Keep a light edit in perspective

A real photo refined with an AI tool is different from an invented scene. When people associate an AI label with a fabricated image, that distinction can affect their perception of your post. The scan makes the file’s declaration visible so you can understand what the export says before sharing.

How to remove supported metadata before posting to X

The downloaded output is scanned again and the media data is not re-encoded. Keep your original, check the output’s appearance, and scan any later export separately. Cleaning may also remove location, dates, captions, and copyright details in the supported blocks; it is not an edit to the text or settings of your X post.

X’s Media Literacy Action Plan describes expanding Made with AI indicators for users in the EU. So it would be wrong to treat X as a platform with no AI labeling. That statement does not establish which exact C2PA or XMP fields will trigger a label on your next upload.

The scanner therefore keeps X available for file inspection while distinguishing detected metadata from an uncertain labeling outcome. Twitter image metadata removal and video checks

For an image intended for X, use the original export you plan to upload rather than a screenshot of the post. Supported image containers include JPEG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF/DNG. For video, the tool accepts supported MP4 and MOV containers. All files have the same current 200 MB tool limit.
